Budgeting for a Hen Party- (1)

The trick to wedding makeup on the day is to plan ahead. If you have been following our Wedding Makeup 101 series you’ll know that preparation starts the day before, and that level of planning continues throughout the day. You may be in for quite a long day with limited chances to touch up your makeup so you’ll probably be thinking about how to make sure your makeup lasts as long as possible, which starts with a great base. So here at Spicy Hen we have decided to list the best long-lasting foundations on the market so you can make an informed decision when it comes to your big day.

1. Revlon Colorstay

This is a full coverage foundation that comes in two different formulations, one for combination/ oily skin and one for normal/ dry skin, which means that you will likely be able to find the right type for your skin. It glides on smoothly and evenly and creates a flawless finish. It’s also a lightweight formula so even though it will last a long time without fading, it won’t feel heavy or start to feel too cakey. It also comes in a huge range of 20 colours, so this can be a great choice for your wedding day as you’ll definitely want to have a foundation that matches!

2. Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation

This is also a full coverage formula that has a matte texture. If you’re going for a natural glow, this probably won’t make the cut but if you have oilier skin, this is a great choice as it will help to counteract the shine. There is also the benefit that it has sun protection built in, which will help if you’ve planned a summer wedding! As with the Colorstay, it has a lightweight formulation so you aren’t sacrificing comfort for full-coverage.

3. Make Up For Ever HD

This is a great oil-free foundation that gives a medium coverage that is buildable so if you want more coverage from a foundation, this could be a good match. It has a satin-finish so will create a “soft focus” appearance to the skin, feels light and will last all day without feeling heavy. One of the best things about the packaging is that it has a pump, which means it’s easy and hygienic and isn’t too messy on your big day! There are 24 shades, which means it’s easy to find the right one for you.

4. Laura Mercier Silk Creme

This is another full coverage foundation that has a mousse-like consistency. It does a good job of evening out skin tones and also adds some luminosity to the skin thanks to the silk proteins and tea extracts. This product does contain silicones, which means it could make oily skin appear shiny after a while, but if you have drier skin, this will help to minimize the appearance of large pores. Though the formula is excellent, it does come in a limited range of colours, so you might have to mix two together to get the right shade if you really like the formula.

5. Burberry Velvet

This is more of a pricey product that is geared more towards paler skin tones with its pinky undertone. It has a sheer-medium coverage, which can be built up for a more full-coverage. The foundation has a light, gel-like texture which leaves a flawless finish to the skin. This may be a good choice for drier skin as it is formulated with wild rose extracts to hydrate the skin, it is also good for more mature skin. Again, this foundation has a limited shade range, with only 8 shades so mixing might be needed!

So there you have it, our list of the best long lasting foundations! We hope you found it useful. Next up in our Wedding Makeup 101 series will be top wedding makeup trends for 2016!
